Welcome to the Maryland Coalition of Interior Designers (MDCID) website.  We are an educational, legislative, and public policy coalition that represents interior designers.

We strive to increase the integrity of our profession by playing an active role in initiating, reviewing, and acting upon legislation that is brought before local jurisdictions and the State Legislature, as well as educating members of the profession and local legislature.  We want to work collaboratively with the other regulated design professionals, such as architects, engineers, landscape architects, and surveyors, and spread the message that Certified Interior Designers are a vital part of the design team and seek to work positively with all other professionals in our industry.

With these points in mind, MDCID further seeks to:

-Mobilize and educate Maryland’s interior design community about the importance of state certification, with a goal to increase the base of Certified Interior Designers in the state

-Educate members of the Maryland Legislature about the work of Certified interior designers

-Participate in the Maryland Coalition of Design Professionals (MCDP) to discuss built environment issues and pending legislation that may affect all of our professions

-Reach out to the interior design programs in the state, the larger building community, and public organizations to encourage awareness about the profession and the capabilities of Certified interior designers with an effort to promote understanding about the profession and create advocates on behalf of the interior design profession.
